General Liability Insurance
08/15/11: Getting an AZ contractors license requires a license bond but not general liability insurance. This, however, does not stop customers and general contractors from requiring it before final payment is distributed.
General Liability insurance protects the company from loss if property damage or a personal injury were to occur at the job. This type of insurance can be hard to find at a reasonable price for contractors in AZ. Fortunately, we have found a company who desires to work exclusively with contractors and has come up with several programs to fit the needs of any contracting business. Call us at (602) 242-2222 for a free quote or visit our insurance page by clicking here.
Things Changed March 1st 2011
08/08/11: As many people know, the testing company in Arizona changed effective March 1st, 2011. Changing the company that administers the test was NOT the big change for Arizona. The new testing company, PSI Exams, took over effective March 1st with new testing locations, new test questions, new rules and most importantly, NEW CODES. The codes used for the Arizona Contractors License trade test are the 2009 International Building Code (IBC), 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and the 2008 National Electric Code (NEC). This change effects ones ability to pass the exam because all experience aquired prior to March 1st was based out of a different set of codes. In order to pass the trade exams, a contractor cannot rely on their experience to get them through the test. Becoming familiar with a new set of codes is absolutely necessary for success on the new tests.
At Discount Contractor Licensing, we not only recognize the change but have taken steps to ease the transition for our test takers. We allow our clients to use our tabbed code books for studies for no additional charge (no need to purchase your own set), we have pretests that direct you to the sections used on the test and certified instructors available for one-on-one tutoring. Our clients are also able to check out the code books to be taken in to the administered test.
