2. How much does it cost to get an Arizona contractor license?
The cost of the license depends on the type of license, the number of licenses being applied for, the type of company being setup and your bonding requirements. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors charges anywhere from $320 to $ 1,105 for a two year license. Residential licensees have to also pay into the Recovery Fund which ranges from $300 to $450. 3. How long does it take to get an Arizona contractor license?
The entire process for getting the contractors license is dependent on you. 4. Will a felony prevent me from obtaining an Arizona contractor license?
The Arizona Registrar of Contractors requires full disclosure on all FELONY CONVICTIONS prior to submitting the license application. 6. How many tests do I have to take?
Every license has its own testing requirements. Refer to our licenses page for a listing of all the licenses and their requirements. EVERY contractor applying for their first Arizona contractor license MUST take and pass the Contractor Business Management Exam (CBME) in order to get a license. 7. How many hours do I need to study?
The number of hours needed to study varies from client to client. To get through all of the necessary material it usually takes an average of 16 hours per test. Some tests take less and some more. 8. Who can qualify for the Arizona contractor license?
Anyone who can meet the work experience requirements for the desired license. The person with the necessary experience is the person who MUST take and pass ALL required exams and submit the experience forms. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors will accept up to 2 years of education towards the required years of experience for an Arizona contractor license. 11. How many times can I take the exam?

12. How much does the test cost?
Thomson Prometric (the State Testing Authority) charges $63 per exam or $120 for a Business and Trade test when paid at the same time. There is a 90 day registration period in which you must test or lose your fees. If rescheduling the exam you must do so at least 72 hours in advance to avoid a $40 rescheduling fee.
13. How do I prove my experience?
Discount Contractor Licensing will provide you with a packet with all of the forms necessary to prove your experience along with step by step instructions. It is not required to have workman's compensation prior to applying for the Arizona contractor license however, as soon as you hire employees or start working (depending on the company entity you are operating) you MUST have a workman's compensation certificate.

20. What happens if I change my address?
Changing your address requires a lot of paperwork. All of the state and federal agencies have to be informed of the change and require that specific forms be completed in order for the change to become effective.
