How To Get an Arizona Contractor License

The process of getting an Arizona Contractor License begins with the understanding that all persons working in the Arizona State Industry are required by law to obtain a current and active license. Much like a driver's license, the Arizona Contractor License grants legal status to perform some skill and/or trade. Licenses are not required to work on Residential property if work is to be performed by those persons titled to the property. Beyond that, work performed on someone else's property or any property owned for the purpose of sell or income, requires a contractor license administered by the Arizona State Registrar of Contractors. The CHOICE to be licensed is removed if the person intends to work as a professional in the building trades.

The license application, when completed, has many documents. They must be filled out correctly and cannot be assembled incorrectly. You provide the information, we provide the results. STEP 1: Work Experience

Assemble your work experience. The State of Arizona REQUIRES actual on-the-job training experience to verify a work history for any contractor license applicant. Most trades require two to four years of full time, journeyman level documented experience. The Work Experience forms are furnished by our offices and we will assist you in their completion. STEP 2: Business Management Test

Come to ANY of our Arizona offices and study for the Business Management Test. Clients study at their own pace and schedule. Computer based test review simplifies and speeds up the learning process. The Arizona Contractor Business Management Examination is composed of 80 randomly selected test questions at the State Testing Authority. Contractors are required to pass the Law (CBME) Test with a 70%. The test is recorded as a Pass/Fail Test. All contractors must take and pass this examination. STEP 3: Trade Test

Many licensing trades require the candidate to pass a Trade Test. The Trade Training Fee is $229 with NO BOOKS to BUY ! Our staff will schedule your examinations. Trade Tests also require a passing score of 70%. Passing the test(s) will NOT make you legal in the State of Arizona. Passing scores are used to apply for the contractor license. You WILL NOT be considered legal in construction until the license is in your hand. Arizona does NOT have a "License Pending" Exemption.

STEP 4: Company Setup and Application Processing

Arizona licenses the company and NOT the person. Therein, a name has to be created and approved by many state agencies before it can be used by the business. We do the ENTIRE name process for you.
